Helping you to...manage menopausal symptoms
Dealing with the menopause
Many women experience debilitating mental and physical symptoms during their perimenopause (the time your body transitions) and the menopause (when the ovaries stop releasing eggs).
Mood swings, hot flushes, brain fog, anxiety, depression, insomnia and fatigue are just a fraction of reported indications.
Multiple international studies have shown that CBT and hypnotherapy can help combat these and other symptoms, not only in significantly reducing the frequency of hot flushes, night sweats, heart palpitations etc (*) but also with improving self confidence, sleeping more soundly and managing related anxiety or stress.
Recently another powerful tool has proved particularly effective: paced - or coherent - breathing, which not only stabilises hormones and brings heart, lungs and blood circulation into balance but also promotes mental equilibrium and relaxation.
(*British Medical Journal 2017 “Research demonstrates a statistically significant reduction in the frequency of subjective and objective vasomotor symptoms and their severity after five weekly sessions of hypnosis plus practice at home”)
I am particularly excited and hopeful that a big change is on the horizon, not only because of increased societal awareness and understanding of the challenges menopausal women may face but especially because symptoms can be reduced or eliminated with simple daily practice.
I experienced this first-hand when I finally ended my attempts to find an effective hormone replacement therapy (HRT), having failed to find an option that offered any real alleviation from my symptoms.
However, by learning about the techniques highlighted above and applying them to my own situation, I am now, for example, able to keep my hot flushes at bay, utilising breathing and visualisation techniques.
A unique approach
Due to the personal nature of therapy, it's difficult to prescribe simply a "one size fits all" approach for a specific issue. My approach involves a blend of various therapy techniques, tailored specifically to provide you with the support and guidance that I feel would benefit you.
If you have any questions about the modalities mentioned below, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
FRAMEWORKS & MODALITIES:
-
What can I expect to invest? After the free consultation, every session* (including the longer introduction) is charged at £115 (€135), or £103.50 if you commit to 5 sessions at once (£517.50 / €675). My sessions tend to take between 1h - 1h30 and you will receive an email afterwards recapping what we discussed and agreed, as well as a copy of the recording if there is one. What you will also be investing in is time, attention and the intention to better your state of wellbeing. The attitude you bring to the treatment is enormously important. A client/therapist relationship is fundamentally collaborative: we work together to help you make the changes you would like to see in your life. The more positive and motivated you are, and the more time you invest outside the therapy room implementing what we discussed, the quicker you will feel the results. Your role in this process is more vital than mine, I am just your guide in this process. * Be aware if you are surfing around to compare prices that a typical ‘therapy hour’ lasts only 50 minutes elsewhere.

Can I pay using private medical healthcare? An increasing number of private medical insurers and Private Health Cash Plans in the UK cover hypnotherapy so it is worth checking whether it is included in your plan. Those which do will usually recognise CNHC registration for reimbursement, of which I am a member. Always check with your insurance provider first as specific levels of coverage and annual limits may apply.
